If you want to rent a car in Australia, you’ll need to be at least 21 years old. You’ll also need a valid driver’s licence and have held this licence for at least 12 months at the time of vehicle pick-up.
How close to full does rental car need to be?
With Redspot, your rental car’s tank will be full when you pick it up! When it comes to returns, it’s up to you if you want to refuel or not. Here are your fuel options:
- Prepay for a full tank at a discounted rate at the start of your rental period. This will save you the hassle of filling it up later, just note that there’s no refund for unused fuel.
- Only get charged for the fuel you use. This will be at a higher rate than above.
How to travel to the Gold Coast from Brisbane?
Driving is the quickest and easiest way to travel to the Gold Coast from Brisbane! Head down the Pacific Motorway (M1 Motorway) and you’ll arrive in just over 1 hour. Do rental cars film you?
As a general rule of thumb, Redspot doesn’t install any cameras in your rental car. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us and you deserve a ride without the extra eyes!
Does a rental car track your speed?
No, none of our Redspot rental car fleet tacks your speed. However, if you’re in the driver’s seat and get a little accelerator-happy, we’ll need to send you the fine at the address you provided.
We know it sucks but there’ll also be a $55 admin fee for this service charged to the card provided at the time of rental. Unfortunately, we can’t accept the fee for the fine itself, just the admin fee.

What insurance do I need to rent a car in Australia?
In Australia, your car rental company will provide auto insurance as part of your hire fee. This typically includes protection for your rental vehicle against theft and collision damage, like in Redspot’s Standard Package red-hot value deal.

Looking to beef up your car rental cover? You also have the option to purchase liability reductions: Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW). This reduces your financial liability for an additional daily fee.
Is it better to prepay for a rental car?
Generally speaking, yes! Prepaying for your rental car makes it much more likely that you’ll get the best value hire rate and vehicle availability that you’re looking for. This is especially true if you’re planning to hit the road during peak holiday seasons, such as Christmas or New Year’s. Book early and gear up for adventure with no worries!

With Redspot, age is just a number! There are no maximum age restrictions involved in renting a car with our team. Having said that, we do require that you are over 21 years old to rent a vehicle for safety reasons.

What is the youngest age to rent a car?
You can rent a car with Redspot once you turn 21! We’re one of the rare Aussie car rental companies that welcome young drivers to gear up with us.
Please note that drivers under the age of 25 are required to pay a surcharge and can only rent from our range of small to medium-sized sedans and hatchbacks. Once you hit 25, you’ll have full access to our entire fleet range.
If you’re between the ages of 21 and 24, you can reduce your damage cover to a maximum of $330.

Can I rent a car in Brisbane as a tourist?
Yes, tourists are more than welcome to rent a car in Brisbane! Temporary visitors can show their valid overseas driver’s licence and passport to rent vehicles from Redspot.
If you’re loving your time here and stay in Australia for longer than 3 months, that’s when you’ll need to transition to a local driver’s licence. This depends on the state or territory you’re travelling in, so check in with our friendly Brisbane team for local advice.

Find us in the heart of Brisbane CBD, located at 46 Charlotte Street. Spot us inside the multi-level car park at the bottom of the hill! Note: This is a one-way street, so head down the road and spot Redspot on the right-hand side just before the road starts going uphill.
Walk down the ramp into the car park and you’ll see the Redspot office on the left-hand side. All our rental vehicles are kept securely inside this car park, making this spot extra handy for any pick-up or drop-offs you’ll need during your Brissy adventures.
Fun fact – this car park used to be the local police headquarters car park!
What are the Redspot Brisbane City opening hours?
Our Redspot Brisbane City branch is open from Mondays to Saturdays, 8am ‘til 3:45pm! We’re closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. What is the safest car to rent?
All our Redspot vehicles are safe to rent! Each car is regularly safety checked, so you can rest assured that they’re reliable. On top of this, most vehicles also feature lane assist, forward collision assist and emergency braking assist. You can’t go wrong with our fleet!
How much does it cost to rent a car in Brisbane?

Can more than one person drive a hire car?
For sure, multiple people in your party can drive a hire car. Just remember to include their details in the rental car agreement before driving! Additionally, anyone driving will need to present a valid driver’s licence to us upon pick-up.
Does it cost more to have more than one driver?
Not if you’re renting with our All-Inclusive Package! Note that a surcharge may apply on certain rates and if any additional drivers are under 25, as in line with Redspot’s rental policies.
