What documents should I bring to rent a car in Coburg?
There are a few documents you need to present before you can hit the road in Coburg. These include:
- Credit/charge card and/or purchase order or prepaid voucher.
- A valid driver’s licence and the driver’s licence of any additional drivers. If your licence is not in English, we’ll need to see a translation provided by your embassy or home country traffic authority.
- If your driver’s licence doesn’t display your current home address, you’ll also need to supply identification that shows this. For example, you could present a utility bill.
- A valid passport for any international visitors planning to drive.
Can you rent a car on your Ps in Victoria?
Yes! Unlike many other Australian car hire companies, Redspot allows P-platers over 21 to rent a car in Victoria.
But your safety is top of mind! We’ve got a few rules designed to make sure your journey goes off without a hitch.
If you’re a P-plater, you must:
- Have held your driver’s licence for a minimum of 1 year.
- Have a driver’s licence that is valid for a minimum of 12 months from the date of rental collection.
Just keep in mind our daily surcharge. This surcharge applies to all drivers holding an Australian provisional driver’s licence. In addition, P-platers can reduce damage cover to a maximum of $330.
Drivers between the ages of 21 and 25 can access our range of small to medium-sized sedans and hatchbacks. Provisional drivers over the age of 25 can enjoy renting any available Redspot vehicle.
Check out our P plate car rental guide for all the details you need for your car rental journey.
Do you need a full license to rent a car in Australia?
Nope! Anyone over the age of 21 with their provisional licence can rent a car, providing they meet all the requirements outlined above!
Can I rent a car in Australia with a UK license?
Yes! Temporary visitors can show their valid UK driver’s licence and passport to rent vehicles from Redspot.
If you’re loving your time here and stay in Australia for longer than 3 months, that’s when you’ll need to transition to a local driver’s licence. This depends on the state or territory you’re travelling in, so check in with our friendly team for local advice. For more information, see our complete guide to renting a vehicle with an overseas licence.
Should I hire my rental car in advance?
We recommend booking your car hire in advance so that you can take advantage of deals available at the time and make sure that the car you’re after is available! Plus, it’ll shift you into holiday gear even sooner!
How close to full does a rental car need to be?
Your rental car will be full of fuel when you pick it up. When it comes to returning it, it’s up to you if you want to refuel or not! Here are your options:
- You can prepay for a full tank at a discounted rate at the start of your rental period. This will save you the hassle of filling it up later, just note that there’s no refund for unused fuel.
- Only get charged for the fuel you use. This will be at a higher rate than prepayment.
Can I return my hire car early?
Yes, you can return your vehicle early if your plans change. Keep in mind that there is no refund for early returns or voucher payments – unless you’ve booked through our All-Inclusive rate!
Do rental cars have sat nav?
Redspot’s rental cars don’t have sat nav. BUT most of our vehicles come with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, which allows for hands-free navigation, so look out for this when booking!
Be sure to BYO USB or USB-C connectors if you’ve booked a vehicle with these features and always remember to follow the law regarding mobile phone use when driving.
Do rental cars track your speed?
No. However, if you’re in the driver’s seat and get a little accelerator-happy, we’ll need to send you the fine at the address you provided.
We know it sucks but there’ll also be a $55 admin fee for this service charged to the card provided at the time of rental. Unfortunately, we can’t accept the fee for the fine itself, just the admin fee.
Can rental cars film you?
As a general rule of thumb, Redspot doesn’t install any cameras in your rental car. Your privacy is of the utmost importance and you deserve a ride without the extra eyes!
Can you smoke or vape in a rental car?
For the sake of our cars and other drivers, we ask that you please refrain from smoking and vaping in your rental car/s!
What’s the longest you can keep a rental car?
There is no limit to how long you can rent a car, although we may need to swap out your vehicle from time to time for general mechanical service check ups. Typically the longer you rent a car, the lower the price will be. If you are planning to rent long term, its worth contacting us for the best deal possible.
